Guy shares how he started, as a fresh-faced teen with very little confidence (his words!), but soon grew to manage several laboratory departments, publish over 80 publications, and pursue his PhD. Guy is using his scholarship to fund continuing education for the biomedical scientists enrolled in his hospital’s Future Leaders Program. Linda has been working for the past two years, establishing a histology laboratory at the Makerere University Veterinary School in Uganda. By improving the skills of the local histologists, Linda hopes to reduce the turnaround time for wildlife specimens, to help the organization she works with, Gorilla Doctors, reach their goal of better wildlife health and disease surveillance.
